Racist Democrats vs. Colorblind Republicans by John Hawkins (more by this author)

Sadly, Democrats have managed to trick a lot of black Americans into believing that the GOP is a racist party. But, in truth, the Democratic Party was, is, and will likely continue to be the home of far more racists than the GOP. Let me explain why I say that.

To begin with, the Republican Party was founded by anti-slavery activists, in contrast to the pro-slavery Democratic Party. It was Abe Lincoln, a Republican President, who led the North to victory in the Civil War and freed the slaves while the Democrats did everything in their power to keep black Americans down.

Fast forward to 1898 in Wilmington, N.C., where Democrats murdered black Republicans so they could stage, "the nation's only recorded coup d'etat." Then, in 1922, Democrats in the Senate filibustered a Republican attempt to make lynching a federal crime. A little later on, FDR nominated former Klansman Hugo Black to the Supreme Court. Contrast that to Republican President Dwight Eisenhower, who actually "sent troops" to ensure that schools in Little Rock, Ark., were desegregated and ordered the "complete desegregation of the Armed Forces." Noticing any trends?

But, that was such a long time ago, right? Things really changed in the '60s, didn't they? Yes, Americans -- particularly black Americans -- really owe Democratic President Lyndon Johnson a debt of gratitude for destroying American families and causing the number of illegitimate births to skyrocket -- by pushing entitlement programs that made it much easier to have children out of wedlock.

Remember George "segregation now, segregation tomorrow and segregation forever" Wallace standing in the door of an Alabama schoolhouse to keep black children from being able to go to school with whites? George Wallace was a Democrat. Remember Bull Connor turning water hoses and dogs on civil rights protestors? Bull Connor was a Democrat.

But, what about the revolutionary Civil Rights Act of 1964? That's where the Democrats showed their mettle and Republicans were proven to be racists. Right? Wrong. 82% of Republicans voted for the Civil Rights Act of 1964 versus only 64% of Democrats. Furthermore, a few years later, it was Republican Richard Nixon who first put teeth behind affirmative action.

But, what about today? You'd think that with Democrats receiving upwards of 90% of the black vote in some cases, that there would be few, if any, prominent black Republicans while black Americans would be amongst the biggest power players in the Democratic Party. However, the opposite has often turned out to be true. Once you look past the gerrymandered districts that have to remain in place because so many liberal whites simply won't vote for black candidates (There are only five black Democrats in the House representing majority white districts), you'll see that the Republican Party has surpassed the Democrats in many areas.

Who's the only black American currently on the Supreme Court? Clarence Thomas. The first black Secretary of State? Colin Powell. The first black woman ever to be a Secretary of State? Condi Rice.

Who's one of the fill-ins for the most popular conservative radio host on earth, Rush Limbaugh? Walter Williams. The most desired 2008 nominee as selected by the right side of the blogosphere in 2006? Condi Rice. Who did those same bloggers select as the most desired nominee to replace Sandra Day O'Connor when she retired? Janice Rogers Brown tied for first place.

Racist Democrats vs. Colorblind Republicans ? Empty Re: Racist Democrats vs. Colorblind Republicans ?

Message  Thunder Mer 23 Jan 2008 - 17:05

Meanwhile, what do we see from Democrats? We see Oreo cookies being thrown at Maryland's black U.S. Senate candidate Michael Steele and black Republicans being called "Uncle Toms" and compared to "Aunt Jemima."

Moreover, let's take a look at a couple of studies that actually set out to compare how racist Republicans and Democrats actually are. First off, a professor from Yale looked at voting patterns and she found that:
<BLOCKQUOTE>"...(W)hite Republicans nationally are 25 percentage points more likely on average to vote for the Democratic senatorial candidate when the GOP hopeful is black. ...In House races, white Democrats are 38 percentage points less likely to vote Democratic if their candidate is black."
</BLOCKQUOTE>It would have been interesting for them to poll black Republicans and Democrats as well, for comparison's sake, but however you slice it, there are a lot more white Democrats than white Republicans willing to defect to the other side rather than vote for a black candidate.

Then there is another study, this time from a professor at Stanford -- of how much government largesse Democrats and Republicans believe people deserved to be given after Katrina -- and, surprise, surprise: Democrats behaved in a racist fashion while Republicans didn't:
<BLOCKQUOTE>"But for Democrats, race mattered -- and in a disturbing way. Overall, Democrats were willing to give whites about $1,500 more than they chose to give to a black or other minority...." Republicans are likely to be more stringent, both in terms of money and time, Iyengar said. "However, their position is 'principled' in the sense that it stems from a strong belief in individualism (as opposed to handouts). Thus their responses to the assistance questions are relatively invariant across the different media conditions. Independents and Democrats, on the other hand, are more likely to be affected by racial cues."
</BLOCKQUOTE>Here's the reality: there are racists in both parties. But, there are a lot more of them in the Democratic Party and there always have been. But ironically, Democrats have managed to use the GOP's belief in a colorblind America against us. Because so many Democrats have no problem with using racial discrimination for political purposes, they'll support policies like reparations, Affirmative Action, and racial quotas that Republicans simply won't. Then they deftly distort and exploit incidents like the Katrina rescue efforts and Bill Bennett's condemnation of the idea that black babies could be aborted to reduce the crime rate to convince black Americans that the GOP hates black Americans.

This is all despite the fact that for a large number of black Americans, the GOP is a much better fit than the Democratic Party. The GOP is the party that's friendly to religion, anti-abortion, against gay marriage, tough on crime, and for low taxes and school vouchers. Yet, so many black Americans have been deceived into sticking with the Democrats even though the Dems do so many things that are harmful to our country as a whole and to black Americans in particular.

That's why if you're a black American who thinks the GOP better represents your views than the Democratic Party, then it's time to join the Republican Party. Don't let the Democrats lie to you and tell you that the GOP is full of racists, especially when there are so many distinguished black Americans out there who can tell you otherwise. Look to Condi Rice, Colin Powell, Rod Paige, Thomas Sowell, Walter Williams, Larry Elder, J.C. Watts, Michael Steele, Ken Blackwell, Lynn Swann -- and you'll see that the GOP judges people not "by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."

Indeed that is the reason why Georges wallace said during the civil right movement:"Segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever."This is the reason why the vicitms of katrina were ignored because the President is a democrat who hates black people;isn't it?

There is nothing wrong calling a spade by its name. There are some Uncle Tom among us.Democrats fight for a decent minimum wage, democrats like Lindon baines Johnson, John F.Kennedy ,Bobby kenedy fought for civil rights ,women's right to vote.Franklin Delano Roosevelt left the country with the greatest social security service that helps old workers in their old days.People like Hillary Clinton and her husband want universal health care for everybody. Are we better off now than 8 years ago ;answer me.?

The republican party of Abe Lincoln doesn't exist anymore. The economic policies of the republican party favors rich ,multi national corporations against the workers.Only democrats vote for the increase of the minimum wage.If Georges Wallace were a democrat then he must has been a member of a fifth column in the democratic party. Why the big unions always favor the democratic candidates? What is more beneficial to the progress of black people in this country :having a few blacks without any authority and power in an administration to make them lie in front of the world or to promote affirmative action? To vote for the increase of the minimum wage ,to leave the country with a balanced budget>

The Republicans found a prosperous country in peace and now they leaving the economy in disarray.Tell me what the republicans have been doing for black people or minorities in general lately? They talked about no child left behind, yet the budget of education did not increase.Young blacks have less orpportunities that is the reason so many of them become delinquants and are in jail all over the country. The schools in the poor neighborhoods do not have the same equipment as the schools in the rich communities and yet some people want to convince black people that the republican party is a better choice;based on what?

Yeah Bull crap!

The Republican don't judge people by the color of their skin ,but by the content of their character.
And the guy who wrote the article ,list J.C WATTS.

WATTS was the only black republican congressman in the House ,while there were 38 Black Democratic Congressmen and Watts father himself didn't understand why a Black man would join the Republican Party.
Watts'father said "For a black man to vote republican is the same thing as a chicken voting for Colonel Sanders of Kentucky Fried Chicken"

the vast majority of Blacks who could vote in this country were Republicans ,before the Roosevelt Presidency.
There were still a good number of blacks who were republicans till about 1960.
By the same token ,the vast majority of Whites in the South were Democrats.
When the democratic Party Leadership engaged itself in the pursuit of Black civil rights ,almost all the segregationnists in the South became Republicans.

It was the famous "Southern Strategy" of Nixon and Ronald Reagan.
When Reagan went to Philadelphia Mississipi and winked at the Segregationnists and called for States Rights ,the break was complete between the Blacks and the Republican Party.
Now White Southerners vote Republican and Black Southerners vote Democrat!

Racist Democrats vs. Colorblind Republicans ? Empty Re: Racist Democrats vs. Colorblind Republicans ?

Message  OBSERVER KEEN Jeu 24 Jan 2008 - 13:14

After using race in new hampshire in a desperate attempt to make barack a black candidate, bill is insinuating the same race and gender card in every opportunity in the south. As a southerner himself, he is quite aware of the historical race dynamics there. he claims that he expects "blacks to vote for barack and women to vote for hillary". remember, "women" here is a euphemism for "whites" in general. remember, he is very slick. what he is doing is encouraging racial block voting. he wants to lose south carolina so as to paint it as race-based victory that he would later interpret as a race-based revenge against him and his wife for the MLK comments. in this scheme, he is counting on a backlash from whites a la machiaveli. here he attempts to take advantage of both blacks and whites.
i am not surprised at all, he has always used race in politics to get ahead, so him attempting to pit whites against blacks is not out of character.
i believe that i can anticipate his next slicky move.
this is his next move, please pay attention because he may do it in such a slick way that we may not realize it:
his next move may be to apparently praise barack by touting barack's background in an apparently honest way, he would mention how barack's father is a kenyan, and barack's monther a white woman from kansas. he might even mention that barack's mother was a feminist and would probably have trouble voting either for her son or a woman.
but, this would not be the real message. the real message would be to tap into the historic fear of miscegenation in the south.
what this apparent praise or apparently simple comment would remind southern males is that Barack is mixed-race, a product of miscegenation.
by the way, white the media is focusing on the 83% of blacks that voted for barack in nevada in order to make it a case of racial polarization, the truth may be much more generational than racial.
the vast majority of blacks in nevada is very young, and comes to work there in the entertainment and construction industry. since, the young tend to gravitate toward obama, this 83% support for barack may well be racial only superficially.
we need proxies to counterattack bill clinton, keep barack out of this fight!

Pi mal ke 8 lane de sa pa vle di ke repiblikanism pa mache pou peyi a. La-a fòk nou pran bagay yo demanyè endividyèl.

Wou gen dwa panse ke li nòmal pou yon fanmi rete nan "welfare" de jenerasyon an jenerasyon, pou wou ka bat lestomak wou di ke w'ap fè "byen", wou genyen "bon kè" elatriye. Wou gen dwa panse ke salè minimòm ap rezoud tout pwoblèm povrete, san ke wou pa menm defini kisa ki povrete a. Wou gen dwa panse ke w'ap kite youn nan pitit gason w yo mennen yon lòt gason lakay wou kòm fiyanse l.

Men, si yon lòt moun panse ke Charite yon moun enganm pou lavi se yon derespektan pou moun sa a, montre l peche pito tan pou w bali yon pwason chak jou. Si yon lòt moun panse ke se pa monte salè minimòm chak ane ki pral pèmèt ke plis moun ouvè ti biznis. Si yon moun panse ke maryaj ant 2 moun menm sèks imoral elatriye... pa vle di ke : "For a black man to vote republican is the same thing as a chicken voting for Colonel Sanders of Kentucky Fried Chicken"

Kisa wou rele yon peyi an pè ?

Si pa yon resèt yo poko ka jwenn ,yo ta ka fè 20% popilasyon nwa vote pou yo ,yo pa bezwen e yo p ap chache plis non plis, paske tankou pawòl lan di l "That would have defeated the purpose"

Yo bezwen "bamboozzled" Blan lan sid ,pou fè yo vote kont enterè yo;pou fè yo konprann enterè yon milyonè nan Wall Street se menm ak yon fanm ki ap travay nan yon restoran nan North Carolina!

To tell you the truth, the problem is not Democrat and republican. The core of the problem is the African-American community.

Till the African-Americans don't look above welfare, find their ways to be above the porverty lines. They will always be an instruments to be used by both democrats and republicans to get elected.

Indeed, none of the parties vow for the african americans to go beyond their current status, because this will threaten their abilities to use them to reach their own goals.

African-Americans should stop thinking that only welfare program, donations could guide their judgement. They need to work hard, take initiative, be discipline. USA is a country of opportunities and in spite of the racism, i strongly beleive that every race can succeed.

Stop that non sense :"the problem is african american".African americans are responsible for slavery, for discrimination; for the state of education in their communities? Are they the only poors in the United States?do you know there are more white people on welfare than African americans?

Yes, they have to give more importance to education ;they have to stop wasting their money in buying stuff they do not need. They have to create their own schools, banks ,restaurants, hospitals ,nursings homes.theaters etc.But to blame them for the state of affairs in this country is ludicrous. If I do not do like most people do :buying stuff that I do not need it is because I have learned that the borrower is a slave of the lender.I lived within my means,I try to educate myself in finance so I can manage my money better, but I have not always been like that.Yes, we should be more responsible to our family, to our children. But in order to change these desperate young blacks and hispanics we have to educate them.

We need more good blacks and hispanics teachers to educate our children in order for them to be able to compete in the world .We need to stop deify Michael Jordan, Tiger Wood,Pele ,Muhamad Ali.etc ;we should give more credits to Doctor Martin Luther King and his wife,Benjamin Gordon, Barack Obma , Oprah Winfrey,Maya Angelou ,Tony Morrison, Will Smith, and all our doctors ,lawyers, bankers, actors , electricians, mechanics, carpenters, etc .our black children should have good role models in their parents;not young people who leave schools to put a ball in a basket for money.

It was not a democrat president who sent the National guards to kill the students in Kent state university; It was Richard Nixon. It was not a republican who helped martin Luther king in the civil right movement ;it was Lindon baines Johnson. When this country was in a depression it was Franklin Delano Roosevelt who changed the conditions of the poor and left us with the social security service..Did you hear a republican talks about the great society , war on poverty? All the great achievements of this country during the last century were accomplished under the leadership of a democrat .John F Kennedy is the one who says:" we will go to the moon and conquer space".Give me a democrat for President Now ,tomorrow ,and forever.
