why the haitian problem is not that of politics!
When discussing the tragedy that predominates our haitian reality, we tend to erroneously look at it myopically as a reflection of political repression. IN REAILITY, when compared to other countries, there is not much political repression in haiti.
in fact, the press in haiti is much freer than that of many other countries. freedom of speech and assembly are quite established in haiti. so, it is a false assemment of our problems when we tend to link them primarily to political repressions. in fact, the press in haiti is much freer than that of most eastern european countries, and those of most african nations, and definitely much freer than those of the Middle East.
