Your gift of $50 on May 24, 2011 is helping to support earthquake relief and rebuilding efforts in Haiti. After the January 12 earthquake staff, doctors, volunteers and supporters of the Aristide Foundation mobilized to provide medical care, mental health care, and mobile schools to children and their families living in refugee camps across Port-au-Prince. The Foundation’s auditorium has served not only as a large-scale clinic, but as a meeting ground where Haitians can come together to share their stories and their desires for the future. Our mental health project, Soulaje Lespri Moun, Relief for the Spirit reaches earthquake survivors living in tent camps, offering mental health information, skills and relaxation techniques to earthquake survivors. The conditions of life for those who survived the quake are terrible. They need food and they need shelter—and the international aid effort has not met these needs. But there is also a deep hunger to tell their stories, to find solace in the midst of suffering, and to come together in community.





After President Aristide's return in March 2011, we began to turn our attention to the reopening of UniFA, the Medical School founded by the Aristide Foundation, which was forced to close after the coup d'etat in 2004. UniFA's mission was and is to offer higher education to the children of the poor. UniFA graduates, who began their training back in 2001, are now working as doctors across Haiti, and they have been at the core of all our medical services since the earthquake. Haiti desperately needs more doctors, and particularly doctors prepared to serve the poor. We are working towards the reopening of the Medical School in September of 2011. Your support will help us reach that goal.




All of the efforts of the Aristide Foundation are Haitian-led, and Haitian-staffed. In the end only Haitians can rebuild Haiti. Board members and supporters here in the US are working on a volunteer basis. Therefore, every dollar you give goes directly to Haiti.
