Preval denies Haiti is a "drug state"

Santo Domingo.- Haitian president René Preval has said that press reports describing his country as a “narco-state” are unfair, because Haiti only serves as a bridge in international drug trafficking and is not the world’s top drug consumer.

He said that the evil needed to be confronted by the countries where this is the case.

Preval stated that rather than a “narco-state” Haiti is simply a “narco-victim” and that due to its economic weakness this illegal activity corrupts the police, the justice system and customs.

I agree with President Preval.Tell it like it is.How come the amricans can not prevent the drugs to reach their country in spite of all their military personnnel ,their technologies ,the navy ,the coast guard and the air force?How can a poor country like haiti patrol the carribean sea and the air space whereas the police does not have the personnel and the equipment to protect the lives of the citizens?

It is this prejudice against a country of slaves who fought for their independance that causes the international press to criticize haiti for all the evils in this world.Before it was voodoo ,now they want to give the haitians the responsibility of the drug trade.why don't they call Columbia where the cocaine is produced a narco state. What about the mexicans who dug an underground tunnel to transport drug to the United States ,why don't they call mexico a narco state.What about the producers of drugs in the united States ,its every day they are arresting americans who are producing drugs in their houses; is the United States of America a narco state?

What 's going on?Are we witnessing the same plot as in 2003 .Here is what Jacqueline Charles,a reporter for the Miami Herald wrote recently:"

"Preval's government also has been less cooperative than his predecessors according to U.S. officials who asked for anonymity because of the sentivity of the matter."

However it is Preval who asked for a meeting of the Presidents of.Columbia , Dominican Republic ,Trinidad and Tobago to control this traffic which could be interrrupted tomorrow if the United States government put the ressources necessary to stop the planes that are carriying the cocaine to the island of Hispaniola.

It is ironic that after President Leonel Fernandez called haiti a "narco state" his country and haiti are mentionned in the same article as the territories where the Colombian drugs lords transfer their products from Venezuela to the United States.According to the Miami Herald's.article more cocaine shipments pass through the Dominican Republic territory than through haiti.

President Chavez should be very careful.I am not afraid for Preval for I have the impression that he is not going to tolerate any drug dealer in his cabinet.But Preaval has to keep his eyes opened.He must know by now that his relations with Fidel Castro and Chavez are not compatible with the foreign policy of the United States in regard to these two countries.He must remember who asked him to work with Mario Andresol and who paid for Mario's return trip to haiti.Atantyon pa kapon pye kout pran devan.

They will find any pretext to repeat the coup d'etat that was plotted to overthrow Jean Bertrand Aristide's government .A bon entendeur salut.

2) Il veut contrer la campagne mediatique qui, tot ou tard, risque d'etre lancee a l'endroit de son administration si elle se veut trop "independante".
