Haïti - Reconstruction : Laurent Lamothe rencontre Oprah Gail Winfrey

Dimanche soir, le Ministre des Affaires Étrangères Laurent Lamothe, accompagné du nouveau Secrétaire d’Etat aux Affaires Etrangères, M. Pierre Richard Casimir et de son chef de Cabinet, M. Ady Jean-Gardy, était présent au Salon Diplomatique de l'Aéroport International Toussaint Louverture en vue de souhaiter la bienvenue à la célèbre vedette de télévision Oprah Gail Winfrey, animatrice et productrice américaine du talk show télévisé « The Oprah Winfrey Show. »

Le Chancelier à rappelé le vœu de son Ministère en faveur d'une diplomatie d'affaires devant permettre d'attirer des investissements de tous ordres, de relancer l'économie et de favoriser une rapide Reconstruction d'Haïti et félicité Oprah pour ses multiples œuvres de bienfaisance et la création de « Oprah's Angel Network », une organisation caritative aidant des milliers de personnes dans le besoin à travers le monde. Après Katrina, Oprah a fait don de 11 millions de dollars pour la reconstruction de maisons au Texas, au Mississipi, en Louisianne et à Alabama.

Le Ministre Laurent Lamothe a souhaité un support semblable à Haïti et encouragé des efforts d’investissement d’Oprah ou de ses partenaires en vue d’un développement durable. Le Chancelier s’est réjoui qu’Oprah Winfrey ait obtenu cette année, le Prix « Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award » pour ses actions philanthropiques.

Mme Oprah, a remercié le Ministre Lamothe pour son accueil et promis de faire part de ses observations en toute objectivité. Critique littéraire et éditrice de magazines, Oprah Winfrey, également actrice, nominée aux Oscars, a été classée comme la personnalité féminine afro-américaine la plus généreuse, la plus philanthrope, et la 2ème plus riche personnalité dans le monde de l'investissement et surtout, la plus influente dans le monde politique international.

Why did they put Gail as her middle name.Is it a way to denigrate her ?Fortunately this woman is above this homophopia.

My fresh year in College,that is long time ago, I read two little books that opened my eyes on the question of racial discrimination.One is :"Soul on ice"written by Eldridge Cleaver; the other was:"The Education of Eldridge Cleaver.For the young people who don't know who is Eldridge Cleaver ,let me remind them that he was one of the founders of the Black panther party in the sixties.A radical group which was promoting a revolution in the United States.

I hope Oprah's visit in haiti seves the same purpose as Eldridge Cleaver's residency in different third world countries in the 70's before his return to the United States. She will see in haiti how black people are oppressed by blacks.It is not white people who maintain those half million haitians in the camp buildt by Sean Penn ;It is not white people who have those little boys and girls in slavery;it is the most repugnant elite in the world ,and a government of black people.I also wish that Farakhan's visit serves the same purpose.

As a haitian american ,I am not proud to write this,but it is a fact that you find wicked people in all ethnicities.What is happening in haiti right now is a shame for all black people.While the victims of the earthquake are sleeping in mud ,while the cholera epidemy is killing thousands of haitians the President of haiti is traveling in different countries to get paid 15.000 U. S dollars per day for his expenditures.In New York he stayed at the plaza hotel where he paid 13.000 dolars per night for a suite.Haitians are diying whith cholera ,but the young haitians doctors who were trained in Cuba can't stay in their country because they don't get paid on time.It is not capitalism which is responsible for these miserable human conditions of the haitians.It is ignorance,greed,snobism and corruption of an irresponsible "elite." .Someone said to Oprah:I hope your visit will show the world what is happening in haiti"Yes the world must see why haitians are becoming boat people.Who would like to live in these humiliating miserable conditions?
