Eazy E emotional letter before dying
Rap superstar Eazy-E recently shocked his millions of fans and followers by announcing that he has full-blown AIDS.
The 31-year-old rapper whose real name is Eric Wright is in critical condition at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. A spokesman, Ron Sweeney, told reporters that Eazy-E did not know he had full-blown AIDS until around the beginning of March, two and a half weeks before the announcement.
Ron Wise, a spokesman for Cedars-Sinai, told Jet that contrary to some media reports, Wright is not on life support systems. "He is in critical condition and is in the intensive care unit. He is conscious and aware. He's very bad. There is no way to know how it's going to go." He also said that because Wright's case is full-blown "there is not a whole lot that can be done."
Wright does not know how he contracted the disease, according to his publicist, Norman Winter. Wright was reportedly a drug dealer before becoming a rap star, according to an account given in AP.
Eazy-E, who founded the successful rap group N.W.A. along with Ice Cube (O'Shea Jackson), Dr. Dre (Andre Young), M.C. Ren (Lorenzo Patterson) and Yella (Antoine Carraby) back in the 1980s, was one of the major forces in `gangsta' rap. The group split up several years ago.
At an emotional news conference in Hollywood where there was plenty of weeping, a statement Wright wrote was read by Sweeney, who also is Wright's attorney. The statement read:
