Support for Haitians Who Decide to Return Home

We have come across testimonies of several Haitians (not Dominicans of African Descent) who wish to return home and leave behind the racist environment of the Dominican Republic.

One concern they frequently express is that custom agents and other border officials indicate there are no legal or administrative provisions to allow them to take their personal belongings with them back to Haiti, free of tax. Let's note that a small Caribbean country such a St-Lucia applies this policy of tax waiver for returning diaspora, at anytime. What are Haiti's border officials using in lieu of their brain cells?

Meanwhile, as the Haitian government attempts to re-align with the CARICOM leadership, exemplified by Ralph Gonsalves who articulated the call to isolate the Apartheid D.R. regime, we are encouraged to hear the strong voices of Edwidge Danticat and Jean-Claude Martineau (Koralen) who endorse the call to boycott Dominican products until we see a change of course on the part of that pariah regime which denies Dominicans of African descent of their birthright and fuels mob violence against Haitian migrant workers.

No more apartheid! People of African Descent whose ancestors blood was shed so abundantly for freedom and justice on this continent, have the RIGHT to live free and prosperous lives on every corner of the Americas, especially on all sides of the sacred island that our Tainos brothers and sisters named AYITI (now home to The Republic of Haiti and the Dominican Republic).
