Jovenel Moïse is Kiko Saint Remy’s gardener alleges Simon Desras

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (sentinel.ht) – On Wednesday, former National Assembly President, Simon Desras, said the banana plantation, funded to the tune of $27 million from the Public Treasury, is actually owned by First Lady Sophia Saint Remy Martelly’s infamous brother Kiko Saint Remy, whom the PHTK candidate for president, Jovenel Moïse, is a gardener for.

Mr. Desras is also a candidate for president. He was speaking with Robenson Geffrard after having endorsed Jude Celestion’s candidacy for president.

Desras, not convinced by President Michel Martelly’s pitch that his candidate for president is an entrepreneur, says Minister of Economy, Wilson Laleau, who’s cousin is married to Jovenel Moïse, used state money to get the $27 million for the plantation and also owns it. Agritrans S.A. is also in the name of members of the Haitian first family, including the infamous Kiko St. Remy, known for his close ties to drug trafficking, money laundering and kidnapping.

Desras alleges that Jovenel Moïse was the gardener for Kiko. How the legal ramifications of Desras’ declaration is taken to the point but the for the political aspect, the risk gain is debatable. In either case, the Presidential Candidate, Jovenel Moïse, has more serious matters to worry about.

A vote had taken place on October 25, 2015 and his party, the ruling party of a totalitarian regime in power, had committed electoral fraud. The investigating institution, the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) of Pierre Louis Opont, has zero confidence among the population.

With every institution in its grip the Martelly regime has used all avenues, between violence and fraud, to mar Haiti’s elections. An investigation that does not conclude with the disqualification of Parti Haitien Tet Kale (PHTK) from the elections would likely ignite a revolution in Haiti; against many things, including impunity.

The ruling party is alleged by human rights, women’s rights and civil society organizations for having committed the most violence in the lead up and vote in the partial legislative elections of August 9, 2015. The CEP acknowledged this as true in press note #56 but took no action.

The Martelly regime and the electoral process could have ended after August 9 and Haiti would have gone into a transition but a Haitian proverb rang true: bat chen-an, tan met li, which essentially means “you can beat the dog, and wait for its owner to come.”

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry flew into Haiti on October 6, 2015 to keep Michel Martelly in power. He declared, along with 61 U.S. Representatives and the Core Group, that there would not be violence in the next round on October 25. The Martelly administration complied but turned to fraud, and without delay or hesitation.

Leading presidential candidates, Jean Charles Moïse and Jude Celestin, have both signed an agreement with several other presidential candidates requiring the death penalty for PHTK’s participation in elections.

The ruling party should have relinquished its power, left the government to participate in elections or, the ruling party should have stayed in power and not have participated in elections to properly organize them from the state level.

The Obama administration was again foolhardy on foreign policy. It had convinced itself that a power in Haiti could be free, fair and inclusive and participatory in elections where it could lose its power.

Santiago.- The resignation of the general manager of the vast State-owned La Cruz de Manzanillo agro project is poised to become the scandal-du-jour of government of the Dominican Republic, whose president Danilo Medina has already discarded investigating corruption by previous administrations.

Ramon Emilio Fondeur´s resignation was revealed on Saturday but has yet to be disclosed officially, according to a source quoted by elcaribe.com.do.

However the source said debts in the millions are behind the official´s resignation, and that he left his office today Monday. It said the production manager of the project –one of the biggest banana plantations in the Caribbean- also resigned from La Cruz de Manzanillo, which belongs to the President Administrative Ministry.

"Mr. Fondeur is trapped in numerous difficulties because despite having received more than one billion pesos, there´s currently no way to deal with the payment of its obligations to the Agricola bank and other financial institutions, as well as cover the costs of current operations and payroll," said the outlet.

The source added that million pesos are owed for work performed by owners of equipment, as well as fuel and food. "It´s apparently a disproportionate management of the investment, lack of planning, payroll altered, wasteful spending, incorporating new areas of investment without a plan, failure to create a reserve fund for contingencies. In the end, it´s a real administrative morass."
