Dominican police to train Haitian counterparts

Santo Domingo.- The National Police is sending four members of its elite Lynx team to Haiti to provide training for Haitian police officers, to help in their fight against crime as part of cooperation activities between the two countries.

Haitian police chief Mario Andresol, who attended a K9 police drug detection dog and Lynx motorbike squad display outside Dominican National Police headquarters yesterday, said that this cooperation between the two countries was a “tough plot” against crime and drug trafficking on both sides of the border.

“Drug traffickers and criminals join forces to harm our compatriots, so both the island’s police forces should join together to confront them energetically”, said Andresol, whose words were interpreted by the Dominican ambassador in Haiti, José Serulle Ramia, who accompanied him to the event.

Andresol added that Haiti did have police officers similar to the DR’s Lynxes, used to police accident zones and areas which are difficult to access, but that they lacked the experience and knowledge of their Dominican counterparts.

“This is why we asked (Dominican police chief) Major General Guillermo Guzmán Fermín to send us some of his men”, said the Haitian official.

Je ne vois rien de mal a cela.

Si on devait refuser ce genre d'aide des pays qui ont fait souffrir auparavant, il faudrait refuser cette aide quand elle vient des USA et de la France egalement.

Quand cette aide peut contribuer a rendre Haiti plus forte en tant qu'etat, je ne vois pas de raison de m'y opposer.
