Dimapur, February 27 (MExN):

The department of soil & water conservation, Nagaland, has identified the Haiti area, on the banks of Milak River, for implementation of the Integrated Land Development (ILD) project, funded by NABARD.

The project was implemented to enable villagers to adopt permanent cultivation of vegetables throughout the year.

Under the project, the department developed 20 hectares of land on the banks of Milak River during 2008-09. The department also provided high yielding potato seeds to 18 self help groups. The seed sowing had been completed under the supervision of departmental officers and staff, and the villagers.

Informing this, the Khar Village Council chairman in a press release acknowledged the Director of soil and water conservation and the departmental officers for giving priority to the project.
