TPS is a popular democratic demand for immigrants!
Halt deportations of Haitian immigrants!
Haiti’s political and economic situation is worsening. The tendency is for these conditions to worsen even more. The international financial crisis, compounded by a series of four deadly hurricanes in just one month last year, has worsened the living conditions in Haiti for the fundamental popular masses.
Sending anyone back to these conditions is not only inhumane but also unconscionable. THE DEMAND FOR TPS IS A CORRECT AND JUST DEMAND. It must be integrated into the popular democratic struggle of the masses in the belly of the US imperialist beast. </BLOCKQUOTE>
At the same time, we should never lose sight of the fact that Haitians are migrating to the US due to the bankrupt anti-national, anti-popular economic and political policies of the Haitian dominant classes and their State Apparatus, now headed by the Préval-Pierre Louis administration and under the control of US imperialism.
The Haitian economic system is dependent and deformed by imperialism.
This bankrupt deformed type of capitalism, doesn’t allow Haiti to develop its national economy and employ its labor force, creating a huge level of unemployment and migration to the big cities, such as Port-au–Prince and Cap- Haitian, and to the US.
Even under occupation, headed by the US, with the complicity of UN, they cannot bring any relief to existing conditions in Haiti.
The hurricanes did not create the horrible conditions the working people in Haiti are subjected to.
The devastating effect of these hurricanes is direct result of the reactionary anti-popular policies of the government as the central institution of the State Apparatus. This is not a just Haitian problem. The people of Louisiana were also victims of anti-popular policies of the Bush administration. The total indifference of capitalism to the needs of the popular masses is becoming more acute internationally.
OUR STRUGGLE AGAINST THIS BRUTAL FORM OF CAPITALISM NEEDS TO BE COORDINATED INTERNATIONALLY. IT IS ALL ONE STRUGGLE.
The struggle for TPS has to be related to the struggle of the masses of Haiti for a minimum wage adjustment and hike, for better living conditions and for a drastic reduction of the cost of living as well as with the struggle here in the belly of imperialism for a minimum wage and for a lowering of the cost of living, especially in these hard times of financial crisis created by capitalism.
The only solution to our problems is a coordinated struggle while maintaining the autonomy and independence of the popular masses all over. Our unity is our strength. In the US and Haiti working people need to confront and fight exploitation and domination.
The Miami May Day Alliance supports the demand for TPS. The MMDA recognizes that our demands for popular democratic rights such as, minimum wage hike , the right to organize without intimidation, lowering the cost of living and TPS, will be answered when we build a solid movement capable of resisting all the maneuvers of politicians and also of exposing their empty promises.
The migration of popular masses of dominated countries to other shores can only be corrected through the popular resistance of laborers in each countries.
MARCH WITH US MAY DAY 2009 • SUPPORT THE DEMAND FOR TPS
SUPPORT THE STRUGGLE FOR POPULAR DEMOCRATIC DEMANDS IN HAITI
SUPPORT POPULAR RESISTANCE IN GUADELOUPE & GREECE
THE PEOPLE UNITED, ORGANIZED, WILL NOT BE DEFEATED
