Jack Kemp was not your typical conservative Republican politician. He was bigger than that. He got it. He understood that the Party of Lincoln could not last long if it could not figure out how to successfully attract black voters into its fold. Not since 1960 has a GOP presidential nominee received more than 30 percent of the black vote: Jack Kemp understood the problem this presented, and he often lamented it. He begged his party to be true to its founding principles and reach out to minority voters.

I believe it was candidate Reagan, a republican, who said that he did not need the black vote to be elected president of the United States, and he was right an exact. How time has changed!!! Furthermore, why should african-americans vote republican when said the party has not made a concerted effort to attract their votes?

The Republicans better change their ideology fast because pretty soon there will be more minorities in the United States than whites.They will not have the monopoly of the spanish votes any more because the cubans are not the only latins in Florida, New Mexico ,California ,Texas and New Jersey. the anti castro cubans are dying.The young cubans in Florida are more liberals than the old ones.It will be very difficult for the Republicans to win the white house if they can not win the South as a block of red states.

The more educated minorities that are coming from other countries of the world are more attracted to the democratic party .Although one can not predict with certainty the way the american people will vote in four years or in 8 years, but I am certain if the Obama's presidency is successful it will be hard for the republican party to reconquer the white house in the next twelve years.

The republican party better promotes center right candidates like Jack kenmp,Dr Paul instead of extremists of the right like Rooney or Sarah Palin.They have to understand that you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.
