Port-au-Prince, Haiti (H1N2B) -- Taking everyone by surprise, Haitian President René Garcia Préval showed up for Sunday Mass this morning side by side with Jean-Bertrand Aristide. The former Haitian president has been living in exile in Africa since the 2004 coup d'état that toppled his government. The two men made a brief statement aired live on National Television. Recent street protests have been held to demand that the former president's passport be renewed by Haitian authorities. Diplomatic sources in South-Africa indicate that, for security reasons, arrangements for Aristide's return had been conducted discretely over the past several months.
