It is not my goal to denigrate or condemn these hard haitians workers ,peasants, artists like Wyclef ,Guy Durosier and all haitians who have contributed to the well being of their countrymen ,but after 200 more years of independance we are the poorest country in the western hemisphere if not of the world,our elected officials are running all over the world asking for assistance.we do not produce even enough food to feed our people;we have the highest illiteracy rate in the hemisphere,the highest infant mortality rate, the lowest PIB,the land is devastated by erosion to the point of becoming a desert.Our brother and sisters are risking their lives everyday to leave the country ;we are occupied by a multinational force because of our lack of patriotism.The country is like a big ghettos in some areas and a desert in another.The diseases that have been eradicated in other small countries of the hemisphere are still killing our people.We import all we need.Thus is it arrogance or lack of understanding to ask :What have we done?

I do use the pronoun "we"for this disaster is not only the responsibility of the white men ;it is also our responsibility.Rosalvo Bobo who was a real patriot not a pretender had asked the same question in 1904,one hundred years after our independance.Let's look at the balance sheet one hundred years later;what do we see:an increase of the assets or an increase of the liabilities?We owe more than we own.Our government can not even function without the assistance of the international community.We can not even pay our debts.Yet we're criticizing a group of people if they constitute a country would have been the 26th economic power of the world.
