. .PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (defend.ht) – President Michel Martelly has not kept his promise to publish by the end of 2011 the Constitution of Haiti. According to Lucie Tondreau, a member of the Haitian-American movement “Ban m Dwam” (Give Me My Rights), presently in Port-au-Prince, “things are very bad”.
“I had a chance to have a copy of the amended constitution in my hands and all I can say is that things are very bad”, said Lucie Tondreau to Defend Haiti. Member of the organization “Ban m Dwam” (Give Me My Rights), a Haitian-American movement urging the Executive to publish the correct version of Haitian Constitution. Lucie Tondreau made the trip from Miami to Port-au-Prince last week.
President Martelly previously announced that the good amended Constitution version would be published by the end of December 2011.
The President of the Senate, Rodolphe Joazile, even confirmed last Monday that the text of the amended Constitution, corrected and ratified was delivered to the National Palace.
However, President Michel Martelly on Friday stated contrarily to what was said by the presidents of the legislature, that he did not receive the signed Constitution of Haiti. Martelly announced a team not consisting of lawmakers to be working on the matter.
Commenting on the amendment of the Constitution, President Michel Martelly has indicated that he was receiving mixed signals on the issue and that he would establish a team in order to not take unthinking decisions. He claims that in no case will he take a decision that involves the future of the nation, ignoring the Legislature's power to make law.
"For the amendments, there is another team that will be formed, because I got mixed signals. For example there is Me Gérard Gourgue, currently in Canada who sent me important messages, he told me to not move forward... I have also the Professor Georges Michel who said us same thing, but we also have others people who advise us to move forward”, stated Michel Martelly.

Mwen sot tande SENATÈ MOISE JEAN CHARLES lage yon bonb ;misye di li gen prèv ke MATELI gen DOUB NASYONALITE.
