Arrestation de dominicains pour " Contrebande" d'Haïtiens.

Santo Domingo.– Dominican police arrested three Dominicans in the northern town of Moca when they were caught transporting 19 undocumented Haitians in a vehicle. They said the Haitians were being taken to the northern city of Santiago.
The smugglers Jose Alfonso Sanchez, Andres Cespedes Rodriguez and Yaquelin Estevez managed to slip through several military checkpoints on the Dominican-Haitian border by hiding the illegal aliens among sacks of rice straw.
According to the police, the immigrants were detected when one of the nine children in the group started crying during the inspection. The Haitians will be repatriated, authorities said.
Dominican officials estimate that around 1 million Haitians live in the country, most of them illegal immigrants who work in agriculture and construction.
