As a geological and national entity Haiti is facing multiple challenges?

On the geological front, we do not have good news. When that deadly earthquake stroke on January 12, 2010, all the scientists, with Dr. Calais of Perdue University as leader, were quick to claim that it was the Enriquillo Fault Line which had exploded. Scientists used to believe that Haiti is host of two geological faults whose time to hit is long overdue: The Northern Fault in the North of Haiti, and The Enriquillo Fault which travels southward , crossing Port-au-Prince, Leogane, the South of Haiti onto Jamaica. If indeed it was that Fault, the areas affected on January 12, 2010 would be spared of such catastrophes for many years to come. Very unfortunately, last month, in a news conference in Brazil, Dr. Calais admitted it was a PREVIOUUSLY UNKNOWN FAULT which stroke Haiti on that fateful day (http://ww.abc6.com/Global/Story.asp?S=12977767) . In other worlds both the Enriquillo and the Northern Fault Lines are still ripe to explode, and we don’t know how many more UNKNOWN FAULT LINES exist in Haiti. Does anyone care?

There is no encouraging news from Haiti. On the societal front, it is with pain I am reporting the following:

Since the Earthquake, an unexpected epidemic has been surging at alarming rate in the country. Its name: TEEN PROSTITUTION and TEEN PREGNANCIES!. Female to Female, Male to Male, Male to Female PROSTITUTION ON a wide scale. This comes on the top of such calamities as kidnapping, murders, gangs, corruption, and other crimes. This week, the National Police of Haiti announced that in the vicinity of the National Palace, on Champ de Mars, about 40 teen aged girls were arrested for having lesbian sexual relations in plain public (http://www.lenouvelliste.com/article.php?PubID=&ArticleID=83615 ). On September 16, 2010, Radio Signal FM (www.signalfmhaiti.com) reported that the same phenomenon is happening in Leogane and elsewhere. Prostitution (homosexual and heterosexual) is now prevalent in Haiti.

Other reports claim that there are unprecedented numbers of girls from 10 to 17 years of age who became pregnant after the earthquake (http://www.lenouvelliste.com/article.php?PubID=1&ArticleID=44259 ). Many suspect that the 350000 who died during the earthquake will be quickly replaced, if not doubled or tripled in a few months or a few years. Due to the kidnapping situation which is coupled with rape and the open promiscuity and depravity, I am told that the children who are still in Haiti are those whose parents cannot find a visa to send them to another country. A close acquaintance who evacuated his 3 children to Florida told me this morning: “All the children now in Haiti are those who cannot travel”. This is the youngest generation of immigrants among us in the Diaspora.

As I am writing this on September 17, 2010, the big rumor in Haitian media is that of a male homosexual Minister of the Preval Government who would be under accusation and/ or arrest for RAPING A 15 YEARS OLD BOY. The existence of such a case was just confirmed by Radio Signal FM (www.signalfmhaiti.com) at 5PM. The identity and names of the parties involved have not been revealed as the parents of the victim are refusing to talk..
