Senator Jean-Charles Not Happy with Martelly $13,000[US] per Night Lodging in New York

.. .PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (defend.ht) - Senator Moïse Jean-Charles, known for his passionate opposition to President Michel Martelly, criticized receipts of $13,000 [US] per night for the accommodations of the president during his trip to the United Nations General Assembly last week.

The former Mayor of Milot and now Senator of the Nord Department, Moïse Jean-Charles, learned that the president had paid $13,000 [US] a night using revenues of the state. In a statement, Jean-Charles invoked the leaders of Cuba and Venezuela who were able to acquire more modest accommodations while sharing his view that the state can not provide for such luxuries.

In a Le Nouvelliste article, the Senator said "the head of state could stay at a cheaper hotel as did the representatives of Cuba and Venezuela." Jean-Charles believes that due to the scarcity of tax revenue, the country can not afford the luxuries of the president.

Martelly didn't seek the presidency to be a pauper ;he wanted to be a Rockefeller.If Moise jean charles doesn't like it that his business because there is nothing he can do.I remember Fidel Castro came to New York and he couldn't stay in some luxurious hotels ;he stayed in a small hotel in harlem.

The President of a country which is begging for charity from other countries is paying 13.000 dollars per night in a luxurious hotel in New York just to speak at U.N while haitians are still sleeping in mud two years after the earthquake.This is not capitalism which requires him to do such stupidities.We must recognize we're a bunch of snobs who don't know how to use our resources.

No amount of money can help haiti when you have heads of States who are so stupid.Is it really necessary for the President of haiti to come to the UN every year just to speak?Francois Duvalier and Jean claude never came to the U.N.If I remember correctly Paul Magloire came to the United states only once.Why does Martelly have to travel so often in so many countries?
