Obama Picks Patrick Gaspard as Director of Campaign

Congratulations to Patrick Gaspard in New York!
Barack Obama has picked him as his campaign director and this is as yet another accomplishment of our Haitian brothers and sisters.
We are movers and shakers, we have accomplished much and will continue to do so as we climb America’s ladders.
If Barack Obama wins the election for President of the United States of America, most assuredly Patrick Gaspard may very well find himself a post somewhere in future President Barack Obama’s cabinet or at the very least a position somewhere in government where Mr. Gaspard will be able to continue in his prowess.
Of course, many will come forward quickly to smeer and dirty Mr. Gaspard’s name and others will question his past as well as his politocal affiliations with Haitian government officials.
DO NOT FALL INTO THE DIVIDE CONQUER ROUTINE THAT THE RIVALS ARE KNOWN FOR.
This is what “they” do when they are green with envy.
This is what happens when Toussaint’s “roots strong and deep” rise not just in Haiti but throughout the world! Patrick Gaspard has as much right to climb America’s political ladder as any member of Congress has the right to be seated where they are right now…for no man or woman is as clean or dirty as the person whom they are trying to besmudge.
Patrick Gaspard served as Vice President for Politics and Legislation, 1199SEIU.
Gaspard involvement with 1199, regarded as one of the most powerful unions in the state, dates back to 1988 and Jesse Jackson’s presidential bid.
The next year he worked closely with the union to elect David Dinkins, the first black mayor in the city’s history.
More campaigns followed: in 1999, Gaspard was working as Council member Margarita Lopez’s chief of staff when Amadou Diallo was shot and killed by police officers in the Bronx.
The union was one of the central organizers of the civil disobedience that followed, and 1199 President Dennis Rivera and then-Political Director Bill Lynch asked Gaspard to coordinate those efforts.
A position in the political department followed. He then concentrated on 1199’s national campaign to help the Democrats take the House and Senate.
Gaspard sees the potential for change – but only if there is agitation. That, he says, is where he comes in.
When Patrick Gaspard was asked two years ago about his accomplishments, this is what he had to say:
What is the most important thing you have accomplished so far?
“Raising two children of color in America.”
Two years from now, what do you want to have done?
“That’s the easiest question I’ve ever been asked –
I want to begin to repair the imbalance in the Supreme Court by electing a Democratic President.”
