Haïti: L'épouse du président haïtien défend son mari, sous le feu de la critique

La Première dame d'Haïti a pris dimanche la défense de son mari, le président René Préval, critiqué par une partie de ses concitoyens qui jugent laxiste sa gestion du pays après le séisme du 12 janvier qui a fait 150.000 morts et un million de sans-abri.

Des Haïtiens ont manifesté samedi pour demander le départ de M. Préval, accusé de laxisme. Dans certains quartiers de Port-au-Prince, des graffitis peints sur les murs invitant le chef de l'Etat à démissionner ont également commencé à apparaître.

"Le pays entier a subi le choc de ce tremblement de terre. L'Etat est paralysé, car il n'y a aucun bâtiment actuellement debout pour continuer, mais les représentants de l'Etat sont là en grande partie (...). L'Etat haïtien et mon mari travaillent jour et nuit pour essayer de diriger la communauté des donateurs sur lles points les plus sensibles", a ajouté Elizabeth Préval.

my point was a general philosophical observation.
two groups may want the same thing for different reasons; just because I want Preval out does not mean that i want him replaced by koudetayis. it just so happens that both me and the koudetayis want him out for different reasons. SIMILARLY, both the far-right and the far-left want Tim Geithner out but for different reasons.
Preval has been an embarrassment, a colossal failure at a time that requires creative leadership. I do not want his severely incompetent team to be in charge of reconstruction. that is my point! he has to go! in fact, i am in the process of signing a petition to prevent the international community from releasing reconstruction funds to the Preval administration. WE have a march coming on friday at the united nations headquarters in new york calling for the resignation of the Preval administration.
